Author and Purpose

I’m Mark Sheffield. After a thirty-year career of university teaching and a lifetime of studying the Scriptures, I’m now concerned with warning readers of the dangers of the religious hegemony developing in the world. The Bible calls this unity Babylon. Babylon in the New Testament is code for Rome, both pagan and papal. Daniel 7 predicts that Rome will be the last world empire before the second coming of Jesus. Eventually, God will destroy this religious system so full of confusion and falsehood. But God does not leave His people unwarned. Revelation 18:4 says, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you share in her plagues.” This call applies to the whole world because God loves every single person in the world, including you!
